We partnered with ViaSat to bring their vision of giving users complete visibility and control over their mobile data usage to life. The result: Carbon, an Android app that offers real-time data tracking, intuitive insights, and proactive management-all from the palm of your hand. Our goal was simple: to offer a smarter way for users to manage their mobile data, avoid overages, and gain deeper insights into their usage patterns.
The Vision
ViaSat’s mission was to empower users to take control of their mobile data consumption, offering them an intuitive, real-time tracking app with insights into data trends and the ability to set personal data limits. The goal was to provide a solution that was lightweight, easy to use, and optimized for performance, enabling users to better manage their data and avoid unwanted overages.

Mobile data overages are a common problem, often resulting in unexpected charges for users. ViaSat wanted to address this issue by creating an app that would not only display daily and monthly data usage but also offer detailed insights into data consumption trends per device. Designing a Seamless, User-Centric Data Tracker
UI/UX Design for Intuitive Navigation :
We crafted a clean, user-friendly interface that made data tracking and trend analysis effortless. The app's design prioritized ease of use and accessibility, enabling users to quickly navigate between dashboards, set limits, and track consumption.
Real-Time Data Sync with REST APIs :
We integrated REST APIs using Retrofit to ensure real-time data synchronization across devices, allowing users to see up-to-date usage statistics instantly.
LTE Offloading for Optimized Network Performance :
We implemented LTE offloading, enhancing the app's performance by reducing network congestion and ensuring smooth operation even during peak usage.
Local Storage with Shared Preferences :
To ensure quick access to user data, we used Shared Preferences for lightweight local storage, enabling fast app startup and data retrieval.
Performance Optimization for Low-Resource Devices :
