Gorilla Games is an online sports and casino betting platform in Rwanda. Since its launch in August 2019, Gorilla Games has provided a variety of sports games (live, virtual, and e-sports) as well as casino games. The platform is accessible via USSD (*878#), web (desktop/mobile), and mobile applications. The company’s core mission is to offer a seamless gaming experience to users, even those who are unable to access the internet or have a poor internet connection.

The platform aims to ensure that users, even on basic feature phones with keyboard functionality, can easily participate in sports and casino games without needing a high-end smartphone or a stable internet connection.
Scenario
Expanding Mobile Gaming Access Through USSD for Low-Connectivity Users
Gorilla Games sought to make gaming accessible to users with limited internet access or basic feature phones. By utilizing USSD technology, the platform enabled seamless gameplay without the need for smartphones or stable internet connections. Designed with a simple, user-friendly interface, it catered to both new and experienced players. The app worked across all mobile networks, ensuring broad accessibility, even for users in areas with poor connectivity or those on low-cost mobile plans.
What we did
Designing a Seamless, Multi-Platform Gaming Experience
To bring Gorilla Games’ vision to life, we delivered a full-spectrum solution encompassing application architecture, design, development, and hosting. We built a USSD-based platform that allowed users to access games on any mobile device, including basic feature phones, without requiring internet access.
In parallel, we developed mobile applications for both Android and iOS, incorporating local data storage and seamless server integration to support offline functionality. Our team also ensured continuous support, performance monitoring, and optimization of the production environment, resulting in a stable, scalable, and user-friendly experience across all platforms.
