Transforming Client Reporting with Data Modernization

Accurate client data and clear communication are vital for strong investor relationships. The existing reporting system failed to properly identify contact roles and relied on fragmented data sources, limiting the ability to engage securely and effectively. By modernizing the data platform, integrating role-based access controls, and enabling targeted newsletter distribution, we enhanced engagement, improved operational efficiency, and strengthened data security.

The Vision

To modernize and streamline the client engagement process by creating a secure, scalable, and efficient reporting system. The goal was to accurately represent contact roles, enable precise communication through newsletters, and provide granular access control for improved data security and client experience.

Scenario

Operational Constraints and Data Limitations

The existing web reporting framework lacked the ability to differentiate the contact person’s role, defaulting all to investors. This limitation hindered personalized communication and engagement. Additionally, client data was fragmented across multiple databases-POV and Web Reporting-which posed challenges in data integrity and accessibility. The client required a unified, secure system to manage and distribute reports efficiently to various stakeholders, including investors, contacts, and fund managers.

What we did

We modernized the reporting ecosystem by correcting role classifications, consolidating data into Azure SQL, and enabling secure, targeted communication.

Featured project

Role Correction: Redesigned the contact management to properly distinguish and create the ‘Contact Person’ role alongside ‘Investor’ and ‘Fund Manager’ roles.
Data Migration: Seamlessly migrated existing data from the POV and Web Reporting databases into a centralized Azure SQL database, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
Newsletter Distribution: Developed a dynamic newsletter feature enabling the selection and distribution of files directly to targeted recipients (Investors, Contacts, Fund Managers).

RBAC Integration: Implemented Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to secure reporting, ensuring users access only data relevant to their role.
Technology Stack: Leveraged React.js for frontend, Azure SQL for robust data storage, and .NET Core to build scalable backend services.

The Impact

Unlocking Value Through Data Modernization

The transformation led to significantly improved engagement through personalized communication with investors, contacts, and fund managers. Centralizing data in Azure SQL eliminated inconsistencies and enabled faster, more accurate reporting. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) ensured secure, compliant access to sensitive information. Overall, the solution streamlined operations, reduced manual effort, and positioned the organization for scalable, future-ready growth.
